Badaling Great Wall
-

The Great Wall is the symbol and proud of Chinese. It is also one of the ancient magnificent military fortifications of the world. First built in Yue Dynasty, the founding of Great Wall ends at Ming Dynasty. Badaling Great Wall is the highlight and the most excellent section of Great Walls built in Ming Dynasty. Any other section cannot follow its position, fame and spectacle.
Â
The portion of the Great Wall at Badaling has undergone heavy restoration, and in 1957 it was the first section of the wall to open to tourists. In 1961, Badaling Great Wall was listed as “cultural relic sites under state-level protection”; in 1990, it was inscribed as the human cultural relic by the UN. With the long history and unique picturesque scenery, the Badaling Great Wall looks like a flying dragon.Â
Â
Chairman Mao said, “You are not a hero if you don’t climb the Great Wall”. It is the part of the Great Wall climbed by Mao Zedong and other 370 international dignitaries and celebrities. President Richard Nixon and his wife, accompanied by Vice Premier Li Xiannian, also visited on February 24, 1972, during his historic journey to China. It has become the desirable world-level tourist destination.
